Security for Ukraine is at the top of the president’s agenda.
A virtual summit of Eastern European NATO states is being held in the Romanian capital Bucharest Monday. President Joe Biden will join them, the Romanian president said. High on the agenda is a focus on security in the Black Sea region and Ukraine.
The summit of the Bucharest Nine is being co-hosted by the president of Poland. The European states on the eastern edge of NATO aim to coordinate the security positions of countries in the region.
Those in the Bucharest Nine are Romania, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and three small Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
The U.S. had announced it would increase security help for Kiev after Russia moved troops near its border with Ukraine’s eastern region where Ukrainian troops are in conflict with Moscow-backed separatists.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president as he participates in the virtual summit of the Bucharest Nine and for peaceful outcomes.
- For U.S. officials and allies responding to Russia’s seemingly expansionist actions.
- For the Pentagon and the State Department to have understanding as relationships and strategies are developed in Eastern Europe.
